Awards advance financial empowerment, economic mobility across the Gulf Coast

NEW ORLEANS (October 8, 2026) — For the ninth consecutive year, Hancock Whitney, in partnership with the Greater New Orleans Foundation (GNOF), is now accepting competitive grant applications from eligible non-profit organizations whose missions address improving financial literacy, promoting asset building and wealth creation, or preparing individuals for higher paying jobs through skill building and job placement.

Applicants must apply through the GNOF online application portal by the October 30, 2026

Eligible nonprofits include the following types of organizations:

  • Workforce readiness agencies, job training programs
  • Financial education providers
  • Individual Development Account (matched savings) programs

The bank and foundation encourage organizations serving underserved and low-to-moderate income (LMI) communities to apply. Funding for the 2026 Hancock Whitney Opportunity Grants is part of Hancock Whitney’s Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) program.

"When people have the knowledge, skills and resources to achieve financial stability, entire communities benefit. Through our Opportunity Grant program, Hancock Whitney is investing in organizations that empower individuals to build wealth, advance their careers and create stronger futures for themselves and their families," said Hancock Whitney Senior Vice President, Director of Community & Economic Development, Ashley Aubrey Harrison.

GNOF manages the grant application process. Hancock Whitney reviews applications and awards grants to qualifying nonprofits according to a competitive assessment that measures overall community impact.

“Nonprofits are on the front lines of creating opportunities and improving the quality of life across our region. Through our partnership with Hancock Whitney, the Opportunity Grant program equips organizations with the tools, resources, and support they need to increase their impact and sustain their work over time,” said Andy Kopplin, Greater New Orleans Foundation President & CEO. “When we invest in these organizations, we help create stronger neighborhoods, a better-prepared workforce, and greater opportunity for future generations.”

Hancock Whitney supports 501(c)(3) organizations serving 35 assessment areas in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. Last year, 18 nonprofits in five states earned Hancock Whitney competitive grants.

How to Apply

Now through October 30, 2026, eligible 501(c)(3) organizations located in one of Hancock Whitney’s 34 assessment areas may apply digitally for competitive grants of up to $25,000 through the Greater New Orleans Foundation online application portal by visiting www.gnof.org/program/hancock-whitney-opportunity-grant/.

All applications are due via the online portal no later than Friday, October 30, 2026. The Greater New Orleans Foundation will only accept applications submitted electronically. Applications received after the deadline will be ineligible for review.
