This growth recently led Hancock Whitney to expand efforts into the thriving San Antonio area. The Alamo City is not only among the fastest growing in the state of Texas but also in the United States, so it is a perfect fit to continue the bank’s fundamental commitment to people and communities at the local level.

Hancock Whitney is honored to introduce the Central Texas area to our century-old commitment to service. Our goal is to go above and beyond to nurture relationships with each client and business we serve, looking for new ways to build success and create opportunities together – and we are pleased to bring that same commitment and service to the San Antonio community.

The team consists of three bankers, all of which are Texas natives and collectively bring nearly 60 years of industry experience.

2HancockWhitneyBMarket President John Riquelme has over 24 years of experience in the Corporate & Commercial banking industry. He has focused on providing middle market and mid-corporate companies with various solutions. He has extensive credit and lending experience and has served as a Credit and Corporate Finance Analyst, Credit Underwriter, Commercial & Corporate Banker, and has experience with syndications of mid-corporate companies. He has worked with business owners on their retirement and estate planning needs with wealth management partners.

Riquelme has been involved with several organizations in the San Antonio area over the years including Leadership San Antonio, City Year, San Antonio Economic Development Foundation, Downtown Rotary,and San Antonio Food Bank.

Riquelme graduated from St. Edwards University, in Austin, TX with a degree in Finance and Management. He received the University’s highest honor of being a Presidential Award Recipient. He is a graduate of Stonier Graduate Banking School at the University of Pennsylvania where he received a Wharton Leadership Certificate. He also completed the ABA Advanced Commercial Lending School at Southwest Graduate School of Banking.


Larry Anthis_2022(2)Senior Vice President, Middle Market Banker Larry Anthis has over 20 years of relationship banking experience in the Dallas and San Antonio areas. He has focused on providing various solutions for middle market companies involving capital, equipment, commercial and investment real estate. He has expertise in creating mutually beneficial relationships with clients to connect with right services and products.

Anthis graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.

Anthis has been involved with several organizations in the San Antonio area over the years including the Past Chair of the North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce, President of the Association for Corporate Growth Central Texas, and San Antonio Economic Development Foundation.


HancockWhitney-4aaaMiddle Market Banker Jose Santos has over 12 years of experience in the Retail, Commercial and Corporate Banking industry. He has experience working with companies in a variety of industries including business services, aggregate mining, staffing, brokers, distributors, logistics & transportation services, manufacturing, franchising, international trade, convenience stores, non-profits, and asset based lending.

The holistic approach Santos brings to his clients when evaluating and recommending financial strategies is a reflection of his professional and educational background. He enjoys helping companies grow by improving their working capital cycle, helping them take control of their financial information and providing solutions that meet a company’s financial and operational needs. He brings the entire bank to his clients, its stakeholders, and employees via savings, retirement, and estate planning services.

Santos has been involved with several organizations in Laredo and San Antonio over the years including Laredo Economic Development Foundation, Laredo Rotary, San Antonio Food Bank, Junior Achievement and several international student organizations at Texas A&M International University.

Santos graduated from the D.D. Hachar Honors program at Texas A&M International University in Laredo with BA and certificate in International Business. He received a MA in Economics - concentration in Data Analytics and Forecasting from the University of Texas in San Antonio. Most recently, he completed certificates from Cornell University in Financial Management and Blockchain & Cryptocurrencies. He is pursuing a certificate in Applied Machine Learning from Cornell University.
