More than 50 years ago, a family-owned business was founded with one purpose: to build, develop and manage multifamily communities in Tallahassee. Today, Arbor Properties employs more than 100 employees and operates 16 communities along the Gulf Coast.

“We are a growing company dedicated to our residents and team members in the constant pursuit of customer delight,” said Gordon Thames, President.

Watch the full Arbor Properties story.

To date, Arbor Properties manages over 4,000 apartment units, all designed with the resident in mind. “Our apartment homes are the largest in our markets, in some cases, 20% larger than some of our competitors,” explained Gordon. “We strive to offer a modern luxury apartment home that people want, with the service they deserve, so we can inspire customer delight and loyalty.”

The relationship with Hancock Whitney and Arbor Properties began with the organization taking advantage of the bank’s retail services – managing tenant deposits and each of the accounts that help to operate their apartment communities in Florida and Mississippi.

“It was the customer service that sealed the deal for us,” shared Gordon. When it came time for Arbor Properties to make their next move, they knew who they wanted as their partner.

“It’s easier to see something after it’s been built,” said Gordon. “But Hancock Whitney was able to come look at an empty field and have the foresight to see what we were proposing and how it would help to meet the needs of Tallahassee.”

Their newest property, Arbor Trace at Canopy, sits in a new section of the city that used to be part of the Welaunee Plantation. They were one of the first local businesses to call the neighborhood home.

Hancock Whitney was part of building the new apartment community from the initial acquisition, all the way to financing for Phase I and Phase II of construction.

“Not a lot of banks would loan the kind of money it takes to build a community like this out in a green field and be first,” shared Gordon. “Hancock Whitney was willing to take that step with us and create what you see here today”.

The future of Arbor Properties has never been brighter as new developments are already on the horizon – with the sole mission of providing communities where the living is easy.
