LA SHRM Excellence in Diversity Award captionGULFPORT, Miss. (March 18, 2024) — Serving as the voice of the state’s human resources professionals, the Louisiana Society of Human Resources Professionals (LA SHRM) recently honored Hancock Whitney as the recipient of the LA SHRM 2024 Diversity Award at the organization’s 9th annual Diversity and Inclusion Summit in New Orleans.

“This recognition underscores your unwavering commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and we commend your dedication to this important cause,” expressed Jasmine Pack, who serves with the LA SHRM Diversity Committee.

LA SHRM is part of the national Society for Human Resource Management, founded in 1948 and now the world’s largest membership organization devoted to human resource management.

A Sense of Belonging

With more than 3,600 associates serving clients throughout the Southeast, Hancock Whitney sustains a strong focus on workplace diversity and inclusivity.

“We believe in creating learning and development opportunities for all associates, cultivating new partnerships and deepening others that power the potential of communities and future talent, and fostering a corporate culture in which all associates can thrive and belong,” said Talent and Diversity Director Tamara Wyre.

A Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Council sponsored by Hancock Whitney’s president and CEO underscores the company’s ongoing organizational commitment to and prioritization of a corporate culture of inclusion and belonging. The council, co-chaired by the Director of DEI and the Chief Human Resources Officer, comprises associates from different locations, business segments, genders, races, ethnicities, tenures, and experiences collaborating as thought leaders fostering an inclusive workplace.

The company combined learning and development, performance management, and recruiting areas with DEI to strengthen operational alignment, focus, and accountability and promote equitable, inclusive associate career development and recruiting strategies. Additionally, Hancock Whitney created Associate Resource Groups (ARGs) supporting women’s empowerment, individuals with disabilities, Black/African Americans, and young professionals as a start to the ARG program. ARGs are open to all associates and encourage connection, community, and belonging across the company.

Hancock Whitney’s inclusive recruiting strategy supports ongoing partnerships and scholarships at Historically Black Colleges and University (HBCUs) and drives the inclusive leadership experience delivered through a Corporate Internship Program (CIP). A Talent Ambassador Network (TAN) connects associates from across the company to Hancock Whitney’s recruiting process and future workforce.
