Hancock Whitney Tchoupitoulas Location Open Business-as-Usual

Police determine suspicious item found before business hours not a threat

Before opening for business today, associates at Hancock Whitney’s 5335 Tchoupitoulas Street financial center discovered what appeared to be a suspicious item near the entrance to the building.

In an abundance of caution, associates immediately activated the bank’s established safety and security protocols, notified law enforcement, evacuated the building, and delayed opening the financial center until the area was deemed safe.

New Orleans Police Department officers at the scene determined the package was not a threat and removed the package from the financial center. The location reopened shortly thereafter for regular business hours.

The incident was not related to the New Year’s Day attack on Bourbon Street.
