Tracking your debit and credit card activity with Visa® Purchase Alerts is a great way to stay on your budget this holiday season, but did you know that purchase alerts can also provide an added layer of security and help you detect fraudulent activity?

Visa Purchase Alerts

Visa Purchase Alerts are real-time text alerts that can help debit and credit cardholders track their purchases. But, in addition to helping you manage your budget, Purchase Alerts can also alert you to potential fraud. If you receive an alert about a debit or credit card purchase that you did not make, you can notify the bank immediately that you suspect fraud has occurred.

The VISA Purchase Alerts service is available at no charge to all consumer, business, and commercial clients who use a Hancock Whitney debit or credit card. Once you’re enrolled in Purchase Alerts, you’ll receive text or email alerts based on your settings. For instance, you can set an alert to be notified when a purchase has exceeded a certain dollar amount, and whenever a purchase is made online, by phone, or outside the United States.


Card Controls

An added layer of protection for your cards is now available through Visa® Purchase Alerts: Card Controls. With Card Controls, you can lock and unlock your card, block international and card-not-present transactions, and receive real-time text and/or email alerts when a transaction has been declined.

Some PIN-based debit transactions may be routed through non-Visa networks. Transactions routed through a non-Visa network will not trigger a purchase alert.

Actual time to receive Visa Purchase Alerts is dependent on when the merchant submits the charge, wireless service, and coverage within area. Alerts service may not be available in all areas. Message and data rates may apply. Gasoline alerts may not include purchase amount. Account activity qualifying for Alert service may vary by issuer. A limit of ten cards can be registered per Visa Purchase Alerts account. Additional restrictions may apply.
