Hancock Whitney Center to Light New Orleans Skyline on January 4

Hancock Whitney to turn on signs atop 51-story landmark as region looks to brighter 2021

NEW ORLEANS (December 30, 2020)—Hancock Whitney—one of America’s strongest, safest banks—will light up the city’s skyline January 4, 2020, at sunset with new marquees atop Hancock Whitney Center, Louisiana’s tallest office building.

Hancock Whitney CEO John M. Hairston said adding the lighted signage to the top of the landmark skyscraper at 701 Poydras Street is another definitive step in distinguishing the site as Hancock Whitney’s New Orleans regional headquarters in the heart of the Central Business District for decades to come.

“Hancock Whitney’s roots run deep in New Orleans,” said Hairston. “We’ve been anchored here by a rich local heritage for more than 120 years, and we’re honored to add to the glow of the Crescent City’s impressive night sky with Hancock Whitney’s name in lights on such an iconic New Orleans structure. We have a long and storied history as part of New Orleans, and we’re very pleased to spotlight our continued commitment to the local people, businesses, and organizations trusting us as their financial and community partner.”

After considerable planning and permit approvals to put signs on the crown of 697-foot tower, installation teams spent several weeks hanging from the side of the building to raise and secure signs on the Poydras Street and Perdido Street facades.

Hancock Whitney relocated from its historic 228 St. Charles Avenue complex to the Hancock Whitney Center (formerly One Shell Square) in late 2018. More than 500 bank associates now work on seven floors at the Hancock Whitney Center, including a second-floor financial center serving downtown commercial and consumer clients.
