Bringing Back the Beauty: Replanting Live Oaks Along the Mississippi Gulf Coast

There’s something timeless and majestic about a row of live oak trees lining a Southern highway. Their sprawling branches, deep green canopies, and enduring presence speak to the character and resilience of the Mississippi Gulf Coast. That’s why our mission is simple but significant: to replant native trees—primarily live oaks—along the major corridors leading into and throughout the MS Gulf Coast.

Why Live Oaks?

We all know the practical benefits of trees. They help reduce flooding by absorbing excess rainwater. They clean the air, remove pollutants, produce oxygen and cool the ground surface. But the live oaks offer something even more: a sense of place and pride.

These iconic trees don’t just beautify the landscape, they help shape the identity of our communities. People are naturally drawn to beautiful communities, and areas lined with mature trees tend to experience stronger economic development. Businesses thrive, property values rise, and neighborhoods flourish. In other words, when we plant live oaks, we’re not just planting trees—we’re investing in the future of our coastal communities.

Our Progress

In the past year alone, we’ve made exciting strides. With the help of dedicated partners, we’ve planted over 30 live oaks along Highway 90 in Long Beach. This effort wouldn’t have been possible without the collaboration and support of the Harrison County Beautification Commission and the Harrison County Sand Beach Department. Replanting live oaks isn’t just about trees—it’s about people. It’s our way of giving back and standing tall with the communities we’re proud to serve.

Looking Ahead

Our work is far from finished. We’re already planning our next tree planting event this coming December, and we’re eager to continue expanding the beautiful tree canopy along our coast. Each new tree is a step towards a more inviting, and vibrant future for the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

Together, we’re not just planting trees—we’re growing The Coast.
